South Devon U11s v East Devon U11s 2011
South Devon Under 11s v East Devon Under 11s

Sunday 1st May, Ipplepen Cricket Club

East Devon 139-9 (T Williams 20, T Lammonby 17; A Causey 3-30, C Price 2-13, C Yabsley 1-8) beat South Devon 34 all out (M Crowe 3-5, J Bovey 3-4, C Fanous 2-4) by 105 runs

Having being asked to bat first, Williams and Lammonby made a solid start adding 32 for the first wicket before Causey removed Lammonby's
bails with a superb in-swinging delivery. Another 3 wickets fell relatively quickly with Price, Yabsley and Pitman all contributing for South, leaving the East at 73/4. A good stand of 38 between Williams and Cooper was ended by Goodman, and then Causey claimed another couple of quick wickets including the dogged Williams who had batted through 29 overs for a resiliant 20.

The runs dried up for the East, with Yabsley proving especially hard to get away and finishing with 6 maidens from 8 overs. The South could not quite finish off the East as Khan and Jackson held out in the final over, leaving East with a total of 139/9. Despite some excellent bowing, South will be disappointed to have conceded 71 extras, the majority in wides.

If the South were to challenge that total, their top order had to set up the innings but the pace and accuracy of Crowe and Bovey were too much for their inexperienced top order, reducing South to 7 for 6 after 8 overs. A little resistance was offered in the shape of Price and Bullock who added 12 for the 8th wicket, but by that time the result was never in doubt. Crowe and Bovey both claimed 3 wickets from 4 overs, while Fanous picked up 2 scalps in 2.2 overs.

East player of the match was awarded to Williams for a very dogged piece of batting that held the innings together. South player was Yabsley for 8 very accurate overs including 6 maidens.
